A “Slower” Branson

November 23rd, 2009

Would you enjoy a relaxing week in the mountains with a fantastic lake view, a romantic fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub in a fully equipped condo? If so, then our Christmas Week deluxe lakefront condo in Branson may be just what you want!

We have a two-bedroom condo at Indian Point Resort on Table Rock Lake for rent from Saturday, December 19, until the following Saturday, December 26. The resort is conveniently located just 2½ miles from Silver Dollar City and only 6 miles from the Branson entertainment strip.

Avoid the summertime crowds and enjoy the slower, winter season in Branson. In addition to shows, there are a number of festivals during the week.

The Shepherd of the Hills Trail of Lights is a 2½-mile Christmas adventure including three-dimensional displays with themed music and story lines. Once you drive onto the property and until you leave, you’ll be in a wonderland that will bring back the magic of Christmas you had as a little child.

The Branson Area Festival of Lights is a community-wide celebration with all of Branson aglow for the hollidays. Special holiday shows, light displays, and spectacular shopping and dining provide all the reasons to celebrate Christmas in Branson.

White Flight at the Butterfly Palace – Thousand of while butterflies flutter like living snow flakes amid a rainforest sparkling with thousands of twinkling lights, while holiday music fills your soul. Simply unforgettable! These breathtaking angels will amaze you with their quiet beauty and joyful peace – and will stun you when they suddenly come to life!

And, of course, don’t miss Santa in Town Square (through the 24th). Santa has his very own 50-foot Christmas treehouse, complete with a cozy fireplace, holiday cheer, and memorable photo opportunities.

Are You Ready for a Vacation?

July 30th, 2009

I think we all love going on vacation. I know I do.

Vacations can be a wonderful way to let go and relax a little. Or perhaps you’re the adventurous type who’s looking for fun and excitement. Or maybe you want to spend some quality time with family and friends. All of those and more are great reasons for getting away.

But vacations can be expensive. The cost of hotels and eating keeps going up, especially if you’re a family with children. Or even if you’re not. You might be asking yourself, “How can we afford it?”

My wife Robyn and I have asked ourselves the same thing. Even though we’re not rich, we go on vacation several weeks a year. And we like to do it in comfort. So how do we do that? The answer is…

We bought a lot of timeshares. In fact, we’ve bought more than we can use right now,  because we plan to use them ourselves when we retire.  We live in Phoenix, Arizona, and it gets HOT here in the summer, so we would rather be somewhere else then. Staying in hotels for an extended period of time like that is going to be more expensive and less comfortable than staying in timeshare condos.

Because we have more than we can use right now, we rent out several of them. We’re not looking to make a profit on them, and we’re definitely not looking to sell them. We would just like to cover some of the ongoing costs.

In a timeshare, we have room to spread out, a kitchen we can cook and eat in, laundry right in our unit, comfortable beds, and much more. Some places even have a jacuzzi and a fireplace in the unit. We think it’s much better than a hotel.

You can save a lot of money, be a lot more comfortable, and have a lot more fun by going to a timeshare resort. The whole family can stay together (in separate bedrooms). No need to rent multiple hotel rooms. You don’t have to go out and eat expensive restaurant food all the time either. Many fabulous places are within driving distance for many people, so you can even save on transportation costs.

Even better, there are lots of things to do at a timeshare resort. The resorts themselves usually have a variety of great activities, such as games for the kids, wine and cheese parties for the adults, swimming pools for the whole family, and much much more. Friendly, helpful resort staff will help you find restaurants, tours, and attractions in the area (often with good discounts!) to make your vacation even more enjoyable and exciting.

If you’ve stayed at a timeshare before, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you should try it. You’ll fall in love with it, too. All of the people who have rented from us have said they’ve had a wonderful time.
